  19.    Well it's hard to say. If you a just starting out completely from scratch
  20. it's probably too late except for hacking stuff just for fun on your own
  21. machine. Even if you are quick to learn you probably couldn't finish more than
  22. one game or a few demos by the time the MC680x0 get relegated to the
  23. dustbin. It all depends on how long people keep an active interest in the
  24. older model Amigas. Also Escom stupidly cancelled all Amiga hardware
  25. architecture from future "Amigas" possibly driving many people away even
  26. quicker (although some might hang-on to their old MC680x0 ones for some time
  27. before going for IBM and in the mean time might provide a base for your games
  28. and demos). Of course learning MC680x0 assembler would improve your general
  29. programming skills and make PPC easier (I'm not sure what PPC assembler is
  30. like, it might be one of those RISC chips that has such obnoxious assembler
  31. that your better off with 'C' even for most realtime stuff). Learning about
  32. custom chips likely won't of much use for future Amigas thanks to Escom. Still
  33. it may be your last chance to have sort of fun, thanks once again to Escom.
  34. Some jobs also look upon that sort of experience favorably. Someone has to
  35. code the advanced chips used in the navy or for cellular phones, etc.
